Seoul for a weekend!

My first destination was Taipei I had a 10hr layover. Here is a map I found of the Airport!

airportmap

As soon as I landed and got off the airplane I started to look at the signs to determine where I need to go. I saw signs that said transfer and I saw signs that said immigration well with a 10hr layover I really wanted to do what I could do to see Taipei 101. as I walked off the plane and was looking at the signs I saw a cute Taipei girl offering to help you with where you need to be. I asked her. Can I ask you a question? She did her best and I asked I have a 10hr layover am I allowed to leave the airport and see Taipei 101 If I come right back. She hesitated and she said you a USA citizen? I told her yes I am and she said yes I believe you can leave and come right back go toward immigration and confirm. once I made it out of immigration and I remember reading various things about how to get to Taipei 101 I remember one of them saying make it to airbus 1960 east that will go directly to Taipei 101. Well I aslo saw other things so I wasn't sure what to believe. I asked information and they confirmed take Airbus East and you will get to Taipei 101 I bought my ticket and I let the driver know I want to go to the grand Hyatt Hotel which is directly next to Taipei 101. I got on the bus it was a very clean and unique.

The bus the driver was very friendly and the first the very first thing I noticed was how amazing the freeways are in Taipei I heard tpe airport is a ways a way from new Taipei Yes that is the case but As for other cities I have been to Tokyo Seoul the transport to the city is filled with country side. Not Taipei. No Taipei is all city from the airport to New Taipei its like its out of a movie. The freeways are not any wider than any other freeway there just huge the overlap and overlap and overlap there so crazy criss crossing and what not. I arrive at Taipei 101 it was so beautiful I almost teared up a little bit

and I missed it all the boba was closed up for the night.  I arrived way to late but I did get to see Taipei01 but due to the time of my arrival I decided to head back to the airport and hang out. I did walk around for about 10-15 min I saw the Taipei CityHall.

I got back to tpe airport which by the way is huge and its a beautiful airport. I found my gate to make sure I knew where my gate was and it wasn't a very idea comfortable place to sit. so I wandered around the airport took lots of pictures used the bathroom a few times took a makeshift shower in the bathroom brushed my teath used makeup removing wipes that I brought with me to wash my face and under arms. than a few gates down from where I needed to be I found people sleeping and power outlets so I decided this is where i'm going to post up for a few hours and I did i plug in my tablet my phone I watched a movie messaged squishy for awhile just hung out and relaxed it was peaceful.

 rest

crane

I saw people in a resturaunt in Tokyo make cranes to place their chopsticks on and it really sat with me.

Upon seeing this i learned how to make the Crane and I leave them random places!

Nothing in the airport was open no flights where leaving just hanging out I did this untill about 5-6 am and I made my way up to the food court that I had stumbled upon while wandering around and the starbucks was now open.

walk around try to find where I need to be I couldn't find it at all so I messaged my host whom was extremely friendly and helpful it was super easy to find the place so the bus 6020 drops you off at gungnam station exit 11 and for me I had to go down into the subway area and walk around until I found exit one didn't take me log at all and I found my spot as soon as I was at Gangnam exit one. I found the room took a real shower laid down my body was so relieved to be in a real bed it was so nice I knew I was going to sleep all night so I had to get up walk around see what I could I was only in Seoul for the night had to leave the next morning. So I walked around the underground mall in Gangnam station its so cool there are so many people going this and that place the pace at which the city moves you can feel its pulse its alive its like nothing else in the world big cities like this they have so much energy so much power all these people walking consuming living

the city is very clean as tokyo to but there are trash cans and bathrooms there are people everywhere. When I was in tokyo you can walk around and see people only in the "city parts" like I walked to shibuya the walk there not so much people but shibuya lots of people Gangnam Seould not like that there just people and everywhere. Well I tried to find something to bring home one of the most cool things I found was reseable skittles and they are 2 packs for a 1.75 usd.

I stayed around the station because upon trying to use apple and google to get accurate directions I realized there were some errors and I wasn't going to have enough time to sort them so I stayed around the area I was in and had coffee saw the lights of the city saw cute girls.

so on the morning of my departure I went to Starbucks

nothing unusual about that at all I go to coffee every morning just not typically Starbucks as back home Starbucks is basic as f but in the rest of the world Starbucks is a nice piece of home. So nice that I am very thankful for Starbucks. I stood outside in 20 something degree weather freezing so freezing and the 2 girls opening the store felt bad the unlocked the door invited me in but told me I can't buy a coffee until they are done opening no issue with that at all perfectly okay with that.  So I sat there had my coffee watched the people go about their day watched the city wake up. One thing I have noticed is that the city is basically asleep until the subways are open and that's understandable how can you get to work if the subway not open.

watching people go to an from where they needed the outfits they wore how they carry themselves I love to just hang watch the world live and breath its so fascinating. Especially I will only get to experience Seoul for a few moments longer I have barely even scratched the surface I watching and observing I can only imaging what their lifes may be like. After coffee I went back to the spot I was staying at and I took a shower and than headed back out the door to go see the underground mall and do some shopping. This was the last thing I really got to do in Seoul before heading home. I like snacks and I found my favorite ice cream!

Getting to see Taipei and Seoul by just planning and getting the right layover with enough time is something that I try to take advantage of as often as possible. Think about the savings on that instead of going to both places individually. Yes, I can go back later and see them in more detail but seeing to places on your list at one time is pretty cool. I had roughly a 2-hour layover in Beijing on the way home. So you might even say I got to see 3 places but I don't cause I didn't even get to leave the airport but I did buy a few things for home! Well from the airport I did get to see the what I could and I took pictures so that It would register on my map app as a place I have visited and I have visited it so now just need to go back and see more of it. I would very much enjoy going back to all 3 places I just saw and see them in greater detail.
